Clonburris, Dublin 24
Clonburris will be an exemplar of best practice in sustainable development, place-making and urban design. It will realise the full potential of its high accessibility by public transport, its canal-side location, and its critical mass. This will be a new eco-district that will set new standards for environmental urban expansion and act as a focus for new mixed-use development in the Greater Dublin Area. Treasury holds 15 hectares of land at Clonburris forming the town centre and located right at the interchange of the Kildare rail lines and the proposed Metro West line to the airport. This will become one of Ireland's primary transport nodes and a major strategic location for homes and businesses. On 5th November 2008 An Bord Pleanala approved the Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) Planning Scheme for Clonburris. The ethos of the SDZ is that infrastructure and community facilities such as schools, libraries and parks are all provided in tandem with the development of shops, offices and residential buildings. SDZ designation means there is no appeal to a planning decision provided it is in accordance with the Planning Scheme. We look forward to unveiling our plans in 2009.
